This course covers a wide range of subjects, ranging from accounting information systems, to understanding the published accounts of limited companies – all knowledge you can apply in work or further studies.
Pre-requisites
Because it is a fully comprehensive course, there is no prior learning required for candidates wishing to enrol on the Accounting A Level course.

Assessment
Once you've enrolled on your chosen course(s), you'll receive all the information you need to arrange your own exams, including details of syllabuses, exam boards and dates. Exams are held in various parts of the UK.
Exams take place in January and June with the deadlines for submitting coursework being 1st October and 1st February respectively. Please note that exam fees are additional to course fees.
NB: To be able to sit your exams in June the deadline for submitting coursework is the 1st of February, if you have any questions about examinations please contact us.

In general, accountants manage and monitor financial systems and budgets, and offer business financial advice to clients. Day-to-day activities vary according to the size and type of practice they work for, but may include:
preparing financial statements, business plans and budget reportsproducing annual and monthly accountsauditing financial systems and investigating any irregularitiesmanaging spending, costs, credit, payroll and investmentsadvising on and dealing with tax advising on financial and business issues to non-financial members of staff or to clientsfinancial planning and forecastinghelping businesses to improve their finances, or dealing with insolvenciesfinding and preventing fraud (known as forensic accountancy).
Skills and Interests
To be an accountant you should:have good mathematical skillsbe able to plan and present informationunderstand business and economics enjoy analysing data and solving problemsbe able to create a good rapport with clientshave good negotiating skills and be able to act on your own judgementhave information technology skillsbe discreet, tactful and assertive.
Trainee or part-qualified accountants may earn between £16,000 and £23,000 a year.
Qualified accountants could earn between £28,000 and £40,000.
Private practice accountants with ten years' experience could earn up to £100,000.
