The Combined Learning Skills course is a combination of 3 courses:

Basic Learning Skills, Basic Mathematic Skills and Basic Computing Skills.
The Learning Skills Component of the course covers basics like learning styles, reading techniques, writing skills, writing for assessment, assessment skills and basic research skills. The Mathematics course starts at an introductory level, giving even those who have been out of study for many years the opportunity to revist maths without any worries. An understanding of the fundamental mathematical concepts will then be developed to enable you to study a t further or higher education level. Finally the Computing component of this combined course will cover computer basics in the introduction module, followed by specific application training in 'Excel', 'Word' and 'Access', to help you gain confidence in using spreadsheets, word processing and databases.
Our combined skills course will prepare you to return to study with confidence and through interactive activities, can test your knowledge allowing you to reinforce you learning.

Support

This Skills for Learning course doesn't require support. The course contains activities to reinforce your learning throughout, everything you need to succeed is contained within the study materials, and as the materials have been developed specifically for return learners the study materials are user friendly, and self explanatory.

Assessment

The course contains no formal assessment as its purpose is to gradually reintroduce return learners to study without pressure. It also includes a number of activities so you can apply the theory learned and monitor your own progress. The purpose of the course is to generate confidence in your existing skills rather than test you on acquiring new skills.
